Research Record Notebook
What is a research notebook?
Also known as lab notebooks (experimental notebooks), these are notebooks in which researchers record experimental data and ideas as they arise, and which are then verified by a third party to prove when and who created an invention. These notebooks are commonly recognized in the research field. They are valuable assets for researchers and can also serve as important evidence when protecting research results as intellectual property rights.

This original design was born from the combination of intellectual property know-how and the dedication of a notebook manufacturer. The pages are numbered consecutively and the binding is designed to prevent cutting out or altering the pages. The main body of the document is a 5mm grid with a space for the certification date and signature of the certifier, making it suitable for use as legal evidence.

Japan is seeking to strengthen its international competitiveness and realize a vibrant economic society by creating, protecting, and utilizing intellectual property, and research and creative activities are at the heart of this. Despite the crucial importance of protecting and managing research results in research and creative activities, there is a lack of awareness of this issue, resulting in a constant stream of disputes over inventorship and incidents over the authenticity of research papers. One way to prevent problems related to research and creative activities is to record and manage them daily. While advances in IT have led to the use of digital data, it is easy to revise, so it does not necessarily have high evidentiary value. Therefore, we strongly recommend that researchers record and manage their research in KOKUYO's "Research Lab Notebook," a well-bound paper medium with tamper-proof features.
