KOKUYO endorses Tokyo 2020 D&I Actions: Towards a society where everyone is free to live as who they are
KOKUYO has endorsed the Tokyo 2020 Games statement on actions for diversity and inclusion (Tokyo 2020 D&I Actions) and pledges commitment to such actions.
The Tokyo 2020 Games has issued the following vision statement: “Sport has the power to change the world and our future." This vision has three core concepts: achieving one’s personal best, unity in diversity, and connecting to tomorrow. The vision and three concepts were the inspiration behind the Tokyo 2020 D&I Actions statement, titled “Towards a society where everyone is free to live as who they are.”
The coronavirus pandemic has created new forms of discrimination and widened social divides. Against this backdrop, Tokyo 2020 Games provides an excellent opportunity for the diverse array of attendees to express their individuality and reaffirm the importance of respecting one another’s differences and leveraging these differences for team success.
We desire a world in which people respect one another and live lives true to themselves. Such a world is free of all forms of discrimination, including discrimination based on race, skin color, gender, sexual orientation, disability, language, religion, political or ideological beliefs, national or social background, means, or birth.
We will use the Tokyo 2020 Games as an opportunity to reflect on what we can do to achieve such a future and will continue to put the Tokyo 2020 D&I Actions into practice after the event is over.
